James Paul "Jimmy" Grimes, age 76, died in his Farmingdale home after a brave fight against cancer. Husband of Martha, and father of their son, James Grimes (Joanna), and his children from his previous marriage Constantine (Susan), Paul, Adele Green (Kevin), Jamie Brower (Mitchell), and Niki Lauth (James). He is also survived by six grandchildren and two sisters, Vana Karamanou of Kelloni, Greece and Mary Pascalis of Elmont, NY. In 1947 Jimmy came to America from Lesbos, Greece. After living in Hagertown, MD, for several years he moved to New York where he worked in the Waldorf Astoria until he opened his first tavern, "The J & B Bar" in 1963 in Hempstead. He later owned "Jammers" in Hempstead, "21 North" in Uniondale and "The Grog Shop" in Farmingdale. Jim always had a smile and a funny or profound story for every situation. In his later years he and Martha loved to travel throughout Europe, but his greatest joy came from cooking and serving his friends gourmet meals. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
