Farmingdale Resident Pens Book About Jones Beach
A new book by Farmingdale resident John Hanc, Jones Beach: An Illustrated History, traces the history of Jones Beach, from the naming of the beach after the pirate Thomas Jones, through its inception and mid-20th century heyday as a State Park, and on through a decline in popularity to the present day, where it has recently come back into the public eye thanks to publicity surrounding Donald Trump's proposed $30 million restaurant complex at the site.

Corbin Removed as Legislature's Deputy Presiding Officer
On April 25, Nassau County Legislator Roger Corbin (D-Westbury) received a letter informing him that he was removed, effective immediately, from the appointed position as deputy presiding officer. The letter, sent from Presiding Officer Judith Jacobs (D-Woodbury), stated that it "has become apparent that [Corbin is] unwilling to work toward the goals of the caucus."

Runner's Edge Triathlon Clinic Draws Big Crowd
Well over a hundred would-be triathletes were on hand in the auditorium of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library on Thursday, May 17 for the annual Runner's Edge -TOBAY Triathlon Clinic.

Farmingdale Soccer
Registration for the Farmingdale Soccer fall 2007/spring 2008 seasons will be held on Saturday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, June 3 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Allen Park. Players must be born after Sept. 1, 2003. Registration for both the fall 2007 and spring 2008 seasons is $120, registration for the fall season only is $90. Checks must be made payable to Farmingdale Soccer Club. If a player is not registered in School District #22, a $60 out-of-district fee must be made payable to the Farmingdale Youth Council. There are no refunds after registration. There is a $10 late fee after July 3. Coaches are needed.
