Three games into the season and it looks like Hampton Air and Barco are emerging as the teams to beat. Both are undefeated after three games with impressive outings each week.

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto (right) recently attended the Over the Hill Gang's opening night, held at Allen Park in Farmingdale. Also shown are founder and President Jim Reilly, Family Court Judge Richard Lawrence, third baseman Bernie Dority and pitcher John Leone.

Moby isn't far behind, improving to 2-1 with a 17-7 win over Singleton's. Moby banged out 19 hits including a pair of homers in the third inning. Paul Nardone blasted a three-run shot, followed with a two-run homer by Tommy Hess.

In the middle game on the 90-foot field, Granny O'Sheas beat Built-More Builders 12-7. After BMB jumped to a 2-0 lead, Granny's bats finally came alive in the bottom of third, scoring seven runs. Some table setting singles by Mike Hadnagy, Jay Donovan, Rob Kirk and Bob Thompson led to RBI singles by Bruce Kubart, Don Carlin and Walter Hasemann. Mitch Maghakian added a grand slam to close out the scoring. Granny's went on to add two more in the fourth with RBI singles by Mike Hadnagy and Bob Myers to take a 9-2 lead. Granny's had some nice defensive plays, like a hot shot up the middle stopped by Rob Kirk at short with a nice feed to and some good footwork by Gary Innes at second to help shut down a BMB inning. BMB fought back with four more runs, but Granny's responded with three of their own thanks to RBI singles by Lenny Balestrieri and Don Carlin and a final sacrifice fly by Bob Thompson. This helped clinch Granny's first victory of the year.

Congratulations to Al Celeste and Garry Innes on their first victory as new managers of Granny's. Also, a welcome to new rookie Lenny Balestrieri and returning player Dave Aitchison. Finally, we're all happy to have Bruce Kubart back in the lineup swinging away for Granny O'Sheas after a brief DL stint.

For BMB, Richie D'Amico made a bid to reclaim his old leadoff slot with three hits. Bobby Schubert and Tom "T" Ball continued their hot hitting with a pair of hits each, while Pete Mendelson came up with another clutch hit to drive in two runs. Barco continued its early season success with a 19-13 victory over the ever strong Synergy team. The Barco bats were sizzling early as they jumped out with four runs in the first on an RBI single from Terry McPartland and a three-run homerun by Dave Ringer. They added another six in the second with Gary Jambor's single driving in two and Terry McPartland's grand salami. The Barco Boys continued on in the fourth as they plated nine to go up 19-2. Phil Tripoli had an RBI triple to get things started and was followed up with RBI hits from Steve Jacobson, Terry McPartland again (two more RBIs), Dave Ringer and Steve Schwind. This potent offense then came to a screaming halt as Barco didn't produce another run for the balance of the game but held on to go 3-0 for the 2007 season. Another positive Barco note, the team will have Tony Falcone back next week after missing the first three weeks due to health issues.

The Barco team would also like to congratulate Dave Diamond on his graduation from Hofstra. Dave has kept the Barco scorebook for many years including the four he attended college. Dave is an integral part of the Barco family, the 17th man on the roster who has always been a positive, respectful young man. Congrats Dave and parents Tina and Bob. Best of luck Dave in your future endeavors from all of your Barco teammates.

In the late game on the 60 ft. field, Bar Boy, with the help of three double plays, defeated M&T 20-7. Ken Kuzma, Mike Frain, Mike Turturro and Keith Ferrara all went four-for-five.
