The Eighth Squad of the Nassau County Police Department reported the arrest of a Farmingdale woman in connection with a series of accidents and incidents that occurred on April 19 in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

According to detectives, 8th Precinct police officers were dispatched at 10:20 p.m. on April 19 to the parking lot of Waldbaum's in Farmingdale for an accident involving a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, the pedestrian/victim provided a description of the defendant's 2006 Chevrolet and reported having been struck by the vehicle, which then left the scene. Approximately 20 minutes later, the responding officer stated he observed the subject's vehicle, requested additional assistance and prepared to conduct a traffic stop at Conklin Street and Franklin Avenue in Farmingdale. The defendant, later identified Susan Kelly, 48 of Farmingdale, who drove into the officer and fled.

According to detectives, Kelly was followed by an unmarked Nassau County Police car, which continued to monitor her location and activity until she entered onto eastbound Southern State Parkway, at Route 11, where State Police were notified and continued to follow her car. In the vicinity of Robert Moses Parkway, as NYS Troopers again attempted to stop her, Kelly reportedly rammed into a NYS vehicle. Police stated she exited the Southern State Parkway in the vicinity of Sunrise Highway, where she continued to drive in the back, residential streets of Oakdale until Suffolk Police officers subsequently succeeded in a traffic stop and ultimately, her arrest.

The defendant was taken into custody by NCPD Police Officers, who transported her to NUMC in East Meadow, where she was admitted for psychiatric evaluation. Charges against her which include Assault 2nd, Criminal Mischief, DUI and leaving the scene of multiple accidents, are being determined at this time. Her vehicle was impounded.
