The Farmingdale School District Board of Education unanimously adopted the proposed 2007-2008 school district budget at its Board meeting last Wednesday, April 11. The proposed budget reflects the district's on-going commitment to careful fiscal planning and excellent educational programs. The proposed budget keeps the tax levy increase to 3.53 percent.

Board President Shari Bardash-Eivers stated, "In preparing this budget, our challenge was to maintain our outstanding educational programs while minimizing the tax impact on our residents. By keeping the tax levy increase to 3.53 percent and the budget increase to 4.01 percent, we believe the proposed 2007-08 budget is successful in achieving these objectives. At the same time, the budget keeps in place all existing programs and provides improved offerings in selected areas."

The budget vote and trustee election will be held on May 15. Residents can vote between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. in the Howitt East gymnasium. For more information, please call the superintendent's office at 752-6510.
