Lucian J. "Lee" Dambra, 79, a devotee to the ideal of lifelong learning, passed away March 4, 2007 at "Hospice by the Sea" in Boca Raton, Fl. Lee was principal of the Shore Road and Winthrop Avenue elementary schools in Bellmore, NY for over 20 years. He and his late wife, Margaret Ann, were champions of education, developing opportunities for the underprivileged and working for a new public library in Farmingdale. Lee was a devoted father of Lawrence and Richard, loving grandfather of Patrick and William, a U.S. Navy veteran and an avid ballroom dance performer who rounded out his life with a profound love of opera and the arts. A volunteer at the Citrus County, FL Senior Center, he served meals, taught computer courses and played piano for the seniors. Donations in lieu of flowers to Hospice by the Sea, Boca Raton, FL, or the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends Sun, April 1 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9:30 p.m. at McCourt & Trudden Funeral Home, 385 Main St., Farmingdale.
