The featured program at the Tuesday, March 20 general meeting of the Greater Long Island Running Club will be The Myths of Training, presented by Bob Mittleman and Joe Riccardi of Fitness Together.
The meeting will be held in the auditorium of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, 999 Old Country Rd. in Plainview, starting promptly at 8 p.m. The general public is cordially invited to attend.
The "Myths" to be exposed by the featured speakers include "the myth of endurance training and weight training," "the myth of pre-and post-running food intake," and "the myth of sports drinks and endurance training."
Bob Mittleman, a long time GLIRC member and director of the Club's Sprint for the Arts 5K, is an eight-time marathoner with a personal best of 3:07 at the 2004 Chicago Marathon. In addition to owning Fitness Together, Bob has a coaching program helping clients who are interested in competing in half and full marathons.
Joe Riccardi is a CORFIT (College of Registered Fitness Instructors and Teachers) master level instructor and the New York regional director of the CORFIT personal trainer certification program. A member of the American Association of Personal Trainers, Joe's mission is to educate the public as to basic fitness truth.
