The store, which will be located at 901 Route 110, has been under development for over a year. Already Tucker said 385 employees have been hired.

Wal-Mart has reached out to the community by attending Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce and Breakfast Rotary meetings.

"He certainly seemed interested in his store becoming active in the Farmingdale community," Breakfast Rotary President Frank DeStefano said.

"I believe that businesses that can provide employment opportunities for that many people are a good fit for any community," Chamber President Debbie Podolski added.

They have also committed to donating money to the Farmingdale Summit Community Council, according to Treasurer Dan Kornfeld.

"Everybody's been very welcoming," Tucker said. "I haven't gotten any opposition at all. Everyone's been very accommodating and we're hoping to return the favor."
