Companions in Courage founder and New York Islander legend, Pat LaFontaine, recently presented plaques to the race committee of the Main Street Mile. The Main Street Mile, sponsored by the Runner's Edge of Farmingdale and North Fork Bank, is a one mile race open to runners and walker of all abilities. The 2007 event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 1.
CiC was created to give courage, friendship, compassion and support to those children and families who are overcoming illness and life-threatening obstacles.
CiC's immediate goal is to raise funds to build interactive playrooms in children's hospitals throughout North America. Through innovative communications tools, these playrooms will replace the isolation of a hospital with a connection to family, friends and celebrities during their hospital stay.
