Silvio Muschera, of Gainesville, FL (formerly of Melville,) died after a brief illness on January 17, 2007. Muschera graduated from CCNY in 1940 and obtained his Master of Art degree in 1944 from Columbia University Teachers College. During WWII he was an Italian language instructor for the Army and a cryptographer for the U.S. Office of Censorship. After the war he taught English, Italian, French, Spanish and Latin at Bethpage High School, and summer sessions at St. John's University. In 1957 he was appointed chairman of the Department of Foreign Languages for the Bethpage School District, where he served in this capacity with distinction for 27 years until his retirement in 1984. Husband of 56 years to Margaret. Father of Anthony Muschera of Gainesville, FL and Sylvia Muschero of Roosevelt. Brother of Theresa Colavito of Wantagh, and Rose Laferrera of Oceanside.
