The Farmingdale Community Summit Council presented the fifth annual Farmingdale Jumps basketball game on Jan. 31. The event featured the Harlem Magic Masters versus a team consisting of teachers, administrators and other employees from the Farmingdale School District. The event was sponsored by the Farmingdale Community Summit Council and The Farmingdale Council of PTA’s. Proceeds from the event will be utilized by both organizations to continue their programs to benefit our community. The PTA Council uses its share of the proceeds to help fund its scholarship program. The Community Summit allocates their share to their Farmingdale Family Assistance Fund which is used to help families in need who live within the Farmingdale School District. The Summit over the past few years has been using this fund to assist Farmingdale families with myriad needs.
Dan Kornfeld, Summit board member and Farmingdale Jumps committee member, said, “we were pleased to present a truly wholesome, family entertainment event for the community. It’s an affordable and fun evening that, most importantly, brought our community together.” He went on to thank Superintendent of Schools John Lorentz and school district employees Mary Rogers, Jeanne Berkowski and Mary Knight for all their support and assistance during the event. He also thanked PTA Council President Karen Benson and the Farmingdale PTA members for assisting with the ticket sales.
