The Farmingdale School District has adopted 15 new goals for the 2006-07 school year, to help guide their actions in the best interest of students and the community. These goals were developed to assist the district in continuing to improve student performance and provide a safe and comfortable learning environment. During the 2006-07 school year, the Farmingdale School District will:

- Settle outstanding bargaining unit contracts;

- Review performance levels for all grades and demographic groups;

- Fully evaluate LOTE/ESL director's position and other possible administrative alignments;

- Review security at all schools including:

- High School

- Before School

- Weekends

- Traffic

- Middle School

- Elementary Schools

- Ensure that the Business Office remains stable during transition period;

- Develop articulation between middle school and high school guidance and parents;

- Develop suggestion box for employees and residents;

- Continue to enforce bus rider privileges;

- Continue to monitor and enforce use of facilities policies and procedures;

- Review the districtwide awards ceremonies considering merit of the ceremony and consistency;

- Continue promotion of the district's wellness policy, including students, staff, and community;

- Establish internal audit function;

- Continue regular meetings of administration and collective bargaining unit leadership;

- Complete capital program (realigned and budget);

- Investigate EXCEL and bond options.

In addition to the aforementioned goals, the Farmingdale School District Board of Education will continue to adhere to their goals, which state that they will:

· Continue to work with all students so they achieve to their fullest potential;

· Continue our efforts to improve student performance on all tests, including New York State Assessments and Regents exams;

· Continue our efforts to achieve a 100 percent graduation rate;

· Continue our efforts to ensure a safe and secure learning environment;

· Work to create more transparent, credible and positive dialogue between the district and community by encouraging appreciative inquiry, informed dialogue and feedback so as to strengthen the connection among the Board of Education, administration, staff and community;

· Utilize a team approach to problem solving and employ data-driven decision making criteria in our official actions;

· Maximize quality and value of all programs and resources;

· Continue to be models of professionalism.

The Farmingdale School District and Board of Education will continue to strengthen the education of our students. The high level of achievement that the district has seen ensures that our students are prepared for bright and successful futures.
