For the second year in a row, Thanksgiving Sunday turned out to be one of the most beautiful days of the Autumn, and a record field of 530 intrepid cross country runners showed up to enjoy a picture perfect morning of running through the trails of Stillwell Woods in Syosset.

Runners from the Massapequas and Farmingdale were well represented in the 2006 edition of Rob's Run. Jen Campbell of South Farmingdale was the fifth woman overall to cross the finish line, and took home the first place award in the women's 20-24 age group. Trisha Fasini of North Massapequa scored second in the women's 25-29 age group. Karen Conkling of Massapequa Park earned top honors among the women in the 40-44 age group. 75-year-old Howard Kestenbaum of Massapequa Park was the oldest finisher and scored first in the 75 and over age group.
In the team competition, the Massapequa Mudders - made up of Richard Bury, Raymond Aures, Karen Conkling and Paula MacCulloch, took third place in the Coed Masters Team competition.
Race Director Jim Murray of the host Greater Long Island Running Club did an outstanding job of putting together the pieces for the third year in a row. Thanks as well to Mark Rollino and the gang from Organic Juices USA, who were on hand to distribute their Elite Naturel juices to the thirsty finishers. Appreciation is extended to John Snitko of JMS Racing Services for still one more outstanding job of timing and scoring Long Island Blood Services' Rob's Run
Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto, Oyster Bay Town Councilwoman Rose Walker, Oyster Bay Parks Commissioner Richard Betz, and Oyster Bay Town Recreation Supervisor Diane Blanchard once again came through with the support that made the event possible.
