It was a rematch of the 1969 Super Bowl, but this time the Colts beat the Jets, 19-8. After beginning the season 0-3, the Colts turned it around going 6-2 the rest of the way. The Colts scored first on a long run by Richie Sullivan off a handoff. Erik Wolfert then hauled in a pass from Jake Dickinson for the extra point. The Jets came right back with a touchdown with Joe Valente hitting Vincent Mavaro to make it 7-6. Jake and Eric hooked up again for a touchdown making it 13-6. The Jets defense forced a safety for two points. But it was Anthony Bonilla who made the play of the day, with an interception and touchdown run that made the score 19-8. Chris Witt and Matt Podbielak played great defense for the Colts, grabbing flags all game. Nicky Mio, T.J. Knight and Nathan Kircheim were fantastic on both sides of the ball as the Colts completed an amazing 4-0 run in the playoffs. The Colts would not be champs without the great defensive play from Matt Lubliner who, although injured for the Super Bowl, did a terrific job cheering his teammates on. The Colts really played together as a team and should be proud of their efforts as should the Jets who also had a great season.
