It's Super Sunday this upcoming weekend at Woodward Parkway Field as the third season of Farmingdale's PAL-NFL draws to a close. Several divisions will conclude their postseason tournaments, while all players will receive awards and refreshments. Here are some of the highlights from last week.

Another beautiful Sunday as the Steelers and the Chiefs took the field. Maggie had an unbelievable game on defense. Amanda scored several touchdowns and Nadine and Katie scored extra points. For the Chiefs, Megan and Danny led the defense with an interception and a great flag grab. Final score: Steelers 26, Chiefs 8.

In the second game, it was the Giants against the Steelers. The offense, Nadine, Amanda, Emily, Carrie and Katie did an excellent job working the field. The defense, Justine, Lauren, Courtney, Gina, and Maggie held their ground. For the Giants, Kimberly had an interception and Katie got a touchdown. The best play of the game came when Justine got an interception and ran for the touchdown. Final score: Steelers 19, Giants 7.

The Peanut Jets are making the most of their extended season. The crowd jumped and cheered for four touchdowns, scored by Christopher Natale, Michael A'Hearn, and Nicolas Rutig. Anna Kate Dickinson played a strong defense against the Peanut Browns. Nicolena Spadalik has made it known that she loves being (as she calls it) "a linebacker." The Peanut Jets showed their fans a ton of "trick" plays that they've been hiding up their sleeves. These little flaggers have come a long way since their first game. They always play fair and know how to have fun. Thanks to Coach Marc for doing such a great job filling in for Coach Tom.

The Giants came up with another great effort against a tough Steelers team. The Big Blue offense continues to impress, this week led by the shifty running of Jack Livingston, Kevin DiLeonardo and Sean Moloney, all with long touchdown runs. The air attack of Tyler Moloney to Dean Pagano also chipped in with a long pass and catch scoring play. Joseph Vigliano came up with a nice first down run to keep a Giant drive alive. On the defensive side of the ball Connor Hess, Tyler Sullivan and Tom Donovan led the way with their run stuffing and pass defending skills. Sean McCann sat this one out with a bad foot, but was on the sideline cheering on his teammates. The Giant coaches are hoping to have Sean back next week to help wrap things up in the season finale. Great job Giants!

The Colts beat the Patriots 18-14 in a terrific playoff game. The winning touchdown was scored on a pass from Jake Dickinson to Richie Sullivan who ran it in from midfield with about two minutes left. It was the second touchdown hookup on the day between Jake and Richie. The first half was a defensive battle for both teams with the score 6-0 Colts at halftime. That score came on a toss from Jake to Erik Wolfert who also made a great dash to the end zone. It was a total team effort by the Colts on defense which kept this exciting game close. The Colts are 3-2 in their last five games and are finally coming together as a team as they head into the final weekend.

The Browns won a hard fought battle with the Vikings to advance through the first round of the play-offs. The Browns scored first on touchdown runs by Liam Walsh and Joe DiLauro. The Vikings answered with a touchdown run by Matt Santamaria, an interception runback by Brian McCartin and a conversion by Mike Sweeney. A Browns touchdown pass from Anthony Galanoudis to DiLauro and an extra point by Walsh made it 20-14. A full field run for the Browns by Zack Yashnyk put the ball at the 1 inch line, followed by a touchdown pass from Brett Davies to Dilauro, and another touchdown from Galanoudis to Brian Tinney put the Browns up 32-14. Back to Back touchdowns by the Vikings Sweeney and Santamaria put the score at 32-26. Another long run by Yashnyk followed by a pass from Brett Davies to Tinney ended the game Browns 38 - Vikings 26.

The Steelers beat the Giants 41-33, eliminating Big Blue from the playoffs. For the Steelers, Anthony Colecchia threw touchdown passes to Joe Lavista, James D'Antonio and Michael Desrochers. Michael and Joe also had touchdown runs. Shawn Serkisyan and Michael Desrochers both picked off passes and scored. Michael's was the game winner.

The Giants were down three-touchdowns early, but battled back. The Giants defense, led by Jimmy McQuade's play behind the line of scrimmage and Evan Saur's open field defense play, slowly started to make a difference. Offensively, Raymond Webb had his second three touchdown game in as many weeks. William Hassett was assigned deep pass coverage while Robert Tempesta handled the majority of the Giants ground game, including a two point conversion. Patrick Lively rounded out the offense with two touchdown receptions from Tyler Byrnes. Byrnes, who had a season high, five touchdowns, orchestrated the Giants comeback. Late in the second half, with the Giant's still down by one touchdown, Kevin Hassett took a hand-off from Byrnes on the five yard line, but found little room to run. Standing deep in Giant territory, he pulled up and connected with Webb for a first down conversion, which turned out to be the key play in the Giant's fifth and final touchdown drive of the day. With less than a minute left in the game, and the score tied at 33, the Steelers intercepted a pass, deep in Giant territory, and returned it for the game winning touchdown, ending the Giants comeback.

The junior varsity Jets snapped a two-game losing streak with an impressive play-off win over the Raiders. The Jets offense came to play, scoring early and often with Vincent Mavaro, Joe Valente, Brian Mazza and especially Paul Cohen really turning it up. Mavaro and Valente each tossed a pair of touchdown passes, while Mazza and Cohen consistently found open spaces on the field. On defense, Joe Salonia, Joe McBane and Andrew Hanc all helped to avenge an earlier loss to the Raiders and kept their potent offense at bay. Special thanks to injured reserve player Billy Pickett for helping Coach Vin with play calling

The Patriots started their play-off run with a hard fought upset of the Vikings 30-20. Thomas Gehlbach scored three touchdowns (two off of long interceptions) and Garrett Kuppelmeyer ran for two touchdowns and had several sacks. The passing attack was lead by Ian Kornfeld and Joey Kuchinskas. James Holman led the team in receptions and Phillip Roedig made several clutch third down catches for long gains. Frank Gagliardi and RJ Maurice were solid on Defense. Ian and Joey blocked several extra point attempts by the Vikings.

The Patriots continued their surprising play-off run beating the Browns 26-20 as this nail-bitter went down to the wire. Thomas Gehlbach continued his torrid postseason with three more touchdowns, two of them coming off leaping interceptions. The quarterback tandem of Ian Kornfeld and Joey Kuchinskas also hit James Holman deep for two more back-breaking touchdowns off of the determined Brown defenders. Garrett Kuppelmeyer and Phillip Roedig pressured the Browns passing attack all day. The linebacking core of Frank Gagliardi and RJ Maurice were solid up the middle. A key third down conversion from Joey to an outstretched Thomas sealed the Patriots victory.

In what could be the upset of the season, the Steelers who just last week won their first game of the season, defeated the previously undefeated Colts, 12-7. The coaches could not be more proud of the players who executed the game plan to perfection, containing the two-headed monster Legotte/Lettiere and controlling the ball on offense. The Colts scored first on a picture perfect throw from Frankie Lettiere to Thomas "TO" Waskiewicz. The Steelers came right back on a 15-yard touchdown run by Jonathan Sindicic. Near the end of the first half, Lucas Sall hit Steve Kayola for a touchdown. That would be the final touchdown of the game as both teams played great "D" the rest of the way. Other Steeler notables: Danny Castillo and Jack Persampire both had huge third down sacks forcing the Colts to turn the ball over.

The Steelers had no time to celebrate their victory with the second game starting within minutes of conclusion of the first game. As often happens after a big win, the Steelers didn't have much left and it showed. William Gruener and Greg Coppola hooked up countless times for touchdowns. Steeler notables: Jonathan Sindicic and Lucas Sall one touchdown reception each. Jet Notables: Kyle Garry two sacks, including one huge sack on third down as the Steelers were driving down the field and Joe Catanzaro one touchdown reception.
