Buck died on October 10, 2006, at the age of 85, of Farmingdale and Lake Pleasant, NY. Husband of 39 years to his wife Jeanne. Life member of VFW Post 7228, Lake Pleasant, longtime volunteer at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, former 18-year bus driver for the Catholic Charities Senior Program in both Farmingdale and Massapequa Park, President Emeritus of the 42nd BombSquadron of the 17th Bomb Group actively involved for more than 30 years in their annual reunions throughout the United States. In 1939, Wilbert was a member of the first graduating class of W.C. Mepham High School and served many proud years in the school's Alumni Association. Wilbert enjoyed nothing more than the stories he told, and retold to all who listened, of his experiences flying the B-26 Maurader. Arrangements were made by the Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc.
