Congratulations to the Farmingdale Hawks 5/6 Year Old - Green Team for an impressive 2-1 start to the 2006 season. The team started off with a big 24-12 win over Franklin Square. In week two they suffered a tough loss to Hempstead where they lost by a touchdown. In week three, they rebounded with another big win over Elmont with a score of 24-6. The team is playing great and demonstrating awesome teamwork. Good luck to the team for the rest of the 2006 season and thank you to all the coaches, families and friends for their commitment to the team.

In front of a large and loud home crowd, the 8-year-old Hawks improved to 3-0 for the year, defeating Bellmore in their home opener under the lights at Allen Park Saturday night.

After Farmingdale's defense, led by Keyshawn Petit, Patrick Albert and Myles Mills, forced Bellmore to punt on the opening series, quarterback T.J. Greco orchestrated an 8 play drive that culminated in a 2 yard touchdown run by Dylan Fitzgerald. Steven Dentato, Taj Penn, Brandon Bustamante and Matt "Bulldog" Santangelo, controlled the line of scrimmage allowing backs Kyle Mastrelli, Conor Nelson and Matt Kleinhans to all gain positive yardage on the series.

The Hawk "D" controlled the remainder of the first half. Bellmore tried repeatedly to run outside, but ends Vincent Fisher and Charlie Tomassetti wouldn't allow them to turn the corner and secured the 6-0 halftime lead.

Ryan Odabasi and Morgan Danzig contributed key blocks as Farmingdale's offense put together its second impressive drive of the evening to open the second half. The six-play drive ended on a Devante Penn scoring run around right end, following blocks by Patrick Albert and Andres Gomez to make the score 12-0.

Bellmore attempted to run inside on the Hawks during the second half, but interior linemen Devin Selitti, Chris Hauck, Chance Creamer, Dylan Charleston, Michel Barrette and Vincent Calderon fought hard to preserve the Hawk shutout.

The 7-year-old Hawks team improved their record to 3-0 this week with a score of 27-13 against the Garden City Thunder. The Hawks opened the game with the defensive line of Jordan McLune, Max Schall, Michael Lynch, Kyle Nusio, and Jack Rosen virtually impenetrable. A key tackle by linebacker Steven Beseler quickly shut down the Braves' offense forcing them to turn the ball over on downs.

On Farmingdale's first possession, the Hawks took command of the game as their offensive line led by linemen Antonio Smikle, Michael Lynch, Tyler Frigerio, Kyle Nusio and Steven Beseler blasted through the Thunder's defense like a gust of wind. This allowed running back Darrin Simons to dash down the field all the way for the touchdown.

Key tackles made by Anthony Burriesci and Jack Rosen forced the Thunder to turn the ball over on downs once again. The Hawks responded with great blocking by Conor Doran, Jake Heuskin, Anthony LaRosa, and Jimmy Hickey that blew the Thunder aside and Jordan McLune ran the ball in for the second score.

Garden City was able to come back with a score. But the Hawks returned with superb blocking by Christopher Truncellito, Nicholas Luc and Anthony Albero and a sweep by Joey Quinn who ran 40 yards down the field, finally getting tackled on the 1-yard line. Quarterback Matt Ragno then punched the ball into the end zone, giving the Hawks their third score of the game.

Garden City made a touchdown, bringing the score to 20-13. Then, Farmingdale took charge with a methodical drive by Anthony Burriesci, Shawn Keating, Spencer Alger, Alex Keats and Tyler Frigerio. On 4th and 10, a pop pass by Matt Ragno to Darrin Simons kept the drive alive. This would be the first of two completed passes of the game. Key blocks from Max Schall, Timothy Leighton and Erwin Li set the stage for running back Joey Quinn to take off down the field for the Hawks fourth touchdown.

A great tackle by Jake Heuskin and vital defensive plays by E.J. Pluguez, Daniel Diaz, Anthony Pizzarelli and Michael Manetta stalled any attempt for the Thunder to put any more points on the board. Anthony LaRosa then had the Hawks first fumble recovery of the year.
