The Farmingdale School District is pleased to announce the recent appointments of Mr. Joseph Valentine as Albany Avenue School principal and Mrs. Patricia O'Regan as assistant principal of Woodward Parkway School. They are filling the positions of former administrators who have left or retired.

Joseph Valentine is a familiar face in the Farmingdale School District, of which he is an alumni and where he has worked for the past three years. He was hired as an instructional associate at Woodward Parkway in 2003, became Assistant Principal at Saltzman East Memorial for the 2004-05 school year, then returned to Woodward Parkway as assistant principal for the 2005-06 school year. He has served as a member of the district's Professional Development Committee, Leadership Cohort and Kindergarten Playground Committee, helping to raise over $14,000 during the latter committee's pasta night fundraiser. Prior to working in Farmingdale, Mr. Valentine taught fourth grade in Massapequa for nine years. He also worked as a NYSUT (New York State United Teachers) instructor, teaching graduate level classes in English language arts and math. Mr. Valentine received his Bachelor of Science degree from Towson University and his Master of Science degree from The College of New Rochelle. He looks forward to creating an environment where students achieve to their highest level and enjoy coming to school.

Patricia O'Regan comes to the Farmingdale School District from Massapequa Public Schools, where she had worked since 1996 and most recently served as a fourth-grade teacher and elementary summer school principal. She has also served as a sixth-grade teacher, administrative intern, summer school teacher and remedial math teacher. Mrs. O'Regan participated in a number of committees during her time at Massapequa, wrote several curricula, was an active member of the teacher center, served as an active member of the union and served as a negotiator and executive board member. In addition, Mrs. O'Regan has taught NYSUT graduate courses since 2002 as part of the Effective Teaching Program. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Molloy College, her Master of Science in Education degree from Long Island University and Advanced Graduate Certificate in School District Administration from SUNY at Stony Brook. She holds New York State certifications in reading, PreK-6 and school district administration. Mrs. O'Regan feels lucky to be joining the closely-knit Farmingdale community and looks forward to a positive, productive and successful school year.
