Congratulations to Farmingdale High School's outstanding athletes. These teams, 24 of which have been named New York State Scholar Athlete Teams for 2005-06, were honored during the district's Varsity Awards Ceremony on June 8.

Farmingdale's Scholar Athlete Teams are as follows: football, boys soccer, boys cross country, golf, girls soccer, girls volleyball, girls swimming, girls cross country, girls tennis, cheerleading, Dalerette kickline, wrestling, boys swimming, girls basketball, girls winter track, girls bowling, boys lacrosse, baseball, boys volleyball, boys tennis, girls lacrosse, softball, girls spring track and badminton.

Awards earned by Farmingdale athletes include the Coaches Award, presented to Charlie Starke and Kim Miller; the Scholar Athlete Award, received by Chris Scotti, Anthony Scotti and Ryann Quinn; the Pete Nistad Award, received by Joe Marve and Nicole Juray; Wendy's Award, presented to Billy Farrante and Jackie Heffel; the Army Reserve National Scholar Award, presented to Ryann Quinn and John Brosnan; and the Marine Distinguished Athlete, received by Chris Maier and Nicole Juray. In addition, Farmingdale High School is the recipient of the Nassau County High School Sportsmanship of the Year Award.

Many of Farmingdale's coaches, teams and athletes received post-season honors. The girls lacrosse team was named New York State Champion Scholar Athlete Team of the Year for the second straight year. The football team received the Nassau County Football Officials Sportsmanship Team Award, boys swimming received the Nassau County Swim Officials Sportsmanship Team Award and girls basketball received the Nassau County Girls Basketball Officials Sportsmanship Team Award. Our golf, boys soccer, boys bowling and softball teams were all named Conference Champions. Boys swimming was named Division Champion. Girls lacrosse was named Nassau County Champion and Long Island Champion. Coaches Ken Ilchuk and Randy Corcoran were named Nassau County Coaches of the Year and Coach Laura Lundy was named Softball Conference Coach of the Year. Billy Ferrante was named Scholar Athlete by the National Football Foundation. Michelle Eifu received the Nassau County Softball Coaches Association Scholarship Award. Katie Wiking was named Nassau County 2000 meters Steeplechase Champion. Jillian Cerar, Janine Hiller, Lauren Maksym, Alyssa Kildare, Candice Rossi, Melissa Maier and Samantha Elie were named to the U.S. National School Girls Lacrosse Team.

Congratulations to all teams and coaches on another excellent year. Your teamwork, efforts and Daler pride have been greatly rewarded once again.
