On Friday, June 30 I was picking up my son at Allen Park at 10 p.m. He plays handball there in the evening since the lights have been turned back on. We have a serious problem with the Adult Baseball Leagues playing in our park. It seems that after and during the games the adults seem to feel that the "No Alcohol" signs do not apply to them. I witnessed the Blue team with a number of adults drinking beer from coolers, and what is worse, they proceeded to get into their cars with their small children and drove away. I called 911 four times in one hour with no response. Finally after the fourth call an officer came to the park, a little too late since everyone left in their cars after drinking. We think this town has a problem with our teens, the problem is with the parents. The police officer told me that it is Fourth of July weekend and they are busy. Also he said that they just can't go up to an adult and see what they are drinking out of a cup. This is very sad. I would like to ban all adult leagues from this park. How do we expect our children to do the right thing when the parents have yet to figure it out themselves. I am going to the Commissioner of parks and our mayor because this is an ongoing problem every summer. It is a disgrace that the 8th Precinct response time is so poor. I was told that I should have reported adults drinking and leaving with children in the car, I told the officer in car #816 at 10:40 p.m. on Friday, June 30 that at 10 p.m. the first call I made I said that there were children involved. I hope there are no DWIs tonight killing any of our Farmingdale residents. I am very angry that no one will do anything about this problem. Get rid of adult baseball if they can't play a game without drinking.
