While this is the 24th season of Village Pops, it is the 20th year of the Minute of History, a series of lectures provided by local community members and representatives about the community's past. Farmingdale Village Historian Bill Johnston of the Farmingdale-Bethpage Historical Society will again be organizing these presentations. The Story of Village Hall, presented by Farmingdale Mayor George J. Graf was presented at the Pops' opening night on June 28.
On July 5 President of The Friends of the Farmingdale Library Jay Eskin will present the Friends of the Library, 1951-2006. A former member of the Junior Historical Society at Howitt, Frances Rotondo will present Farms to Flights on July 12. On July 19 Farmingdale Fire Department Captain Skip Schumeyer will present Farmingdale Fire Department and 9/11. The grandson of the founding publisher and editor of the Farmingdale Post, Nathanial Hubbard will present Remembering the Farmingdale Post on July 26. At the Aug. 2 at the Children's Night Concert there will not be a Minute of History presentation. The Minute of History will resume for the final time this season on Aug. 9 with lifelong resident Jerry Ahern presenting Homefront Farmingdale 1941-1945.
