No one expected them to get this far. Not to win their division, the county championship or become Long Island champions, but they did. With only three starting seniors and just six seniors on the team, this was a building year for the Lady Dalers. But, with the play from some freshmen like goalie Lauren Maksym and at attack Janine Hillier and many sophomores, it made this team play like champs.

On Friday at SUNY Cortland in Upstate New York, the Lady Dalers were defeated by two-time state champs Fayetteville-Manlius 17-7. They were a very fast team that capitalized on any Daler mistake. FM scored first, but the Dalers came right back with a goal by Janine Hillier. That is as close as the Dalers got. At halftime the score was 10-3. Despite two goals by Candace Rossi and Melissa Maier and goals by Jillian Cerar, Janine Hillier and Alyssa Kildare, the Lady Dalers fell short. Goalie Lauren Maksym had two saves. The Dalers should be proud of their accomplishment this year. Their coaching staff lead by Tracy Wiener and assisted by Shari Campbell, Katie Lundy and Katie Hogan brought this team far. There's always next year!
