According to detectives, a 1998 Lincoln limousine operated by Anthony Verdecchia, 41, of Plainview and a 2003 Mercedes Benz operated by Don C. Bonifazio, 31, of Plainview, were involved in a head-on collision on Quaker Meeting House Road, 50 feet west of Puritan Lane. The Mercedes was traveling eastbound while the Lincoln was traveling westbound. Verdecchia, the operator of the limo was pronounced dead at the scene, police stated. Police reported that Bonifazio, the driver of the Mercedes, was transported to Nassau University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 4:10 a.m. Two passengers in the Mercedes were also transported to NUMC. Wayne C. Forman, 33, of Greenlawn who police reported was sitting in the rear seat, was pronounced dead at 11:37 a.m. by hospital staff. Mark P. Soliman, 35, of Florida was in the front passenger seat and is in stable condition, according to police. There were no passengers in the limousine. The vehicles were impounded for brake and safety checks and the investigation is ongoing. Members of the Bethpage, South Farmingdale and Farmingdale Fire Departments also reported to the scene.
