  • News: Property Tax Relief Topic of Republican Assembly Roundtable

    New York State Assemblyman Rob Walker (R-Hicksville, 15th District) along with members of the Nassau County Assembly Republican delegation held a roundtable discussion May 19 that touched upon what had become an extremely popular issue these days - property tax relief for Long Island residents. The Assembly Republican Steering Committee sponsored the event, which took place at the Farmingdale Public Library and is part of a series of roundtable events being held throughout New York State.   • Sports: Over The Hill Gang Softball

    Raise the flag!!! The OTHG actually was able to play some ball May 26 even though Mother Nature tried her best to rainout another week. What should have been the league's sixth week turned out to be only the second game of the season. With the two-week delay at the start of the season and the two rainouts the league will be hard pressed to get the entire 16 game schedule in this year, and that is dependent on a cooperative weatherman.   • Sports: PAL Lacrosse

    On Sunday the Farmingdale PAL fourth grade boys Green lacrosse team visited the Long Beach team in a memorable shootout. The Green team was coming in with a 4-1 record. Long Beach knew this and came out scoring quickly. And score they did. In the first quarter Beach scored two quick goals. But not to be denied the Farmingdale boy's regrouped. Now blossoming as a threat from just about anywhere on the field is Stephen Cain who picked a groundball and was off to the races. Stephen drove hard towards the goalie and let off a blunderbuss of a shot that scored. But Long Beach came right back and scored. The Long Beach team was big and physical and played well all day.
