April showers bring May flowers and also all of the stouthearted blood donors, the Long Island Blood Staff, the 60 donors, the volunteers who made phone calls to the past donors, the brothers and sisters of the Farmingdale Knights of Columbus #2204, the comrades of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #516, the clergy, the deacons, the lectors of St. Kilian's who volunteered their services on this record day of rainfall, and last, but not least, to Father Fitzgerald who arrived soaking wet in the school auditorium to give us all his blessing. In total, 40 pints of much needed blood was collected and distributed to local hospitals. We should all be proud of our Christian teaching of helping all of the unknown recipients. This was my last blood drive. During the time (nine years) I was chairman, we collected 897 pints, or 112 1/8 gallons.
