Want to join in the fun of being a part of the Reckson Long Island Marathon and Half Marathon without the stress of training for a 13.1-mile or 26.2 mile run? Volunteers are needed for every aspect of this exciting event, and you don't need any training at all to participate in this way.
They need folks to staff the start and finish line at Eisenhower Park, to be out on the course calling times at mile marks and directing the runners along the new course, to be handing out refreshments, and for just about any other of the little jobs that are so important to making an event like this a big success. The date is Sunday, May 7, and they can use your help at any time or times between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m.
They can also use your help on Friday, May 5 from 1 to 10 p.m. and/or Saturday, May 6 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the exciting Reckson Long Island Marathon/Half Marathon Expo at Mitchel Field.
Every volunteer will receive a special commemorative shirt, a baseball cap, and the thanks of the entire Long Island running community.
Call Bob Windorf at the Greater Long Island Running Club at 349-7646 for more information or to sign up, or sign up to volunteer online at www.thelimarathon.com/volunteer.
