Feb. 26 was one of the coldest mornings of the Winter, but it didn't deter 108 teams of three runners each from showing up at Bethpage State Park for the 6th annual North Fork Bank 3 Runner x 2 Mile Trail Relay, and it certainly didn't deter teams from the Farmingdale-based Runner's Edge from taking top honors in the Men's Masters and Men's Senior Masters Divisions of the Relay, or the team of two Farmingdale residents and a Bethpage resident that scored first in the Coed Senior Masters Division.

The Runner's Edge team of John Lovejoy of Oyster Bay, Pete Hogarty of Massapequa and Eddie Reagan of Levittown took top honors in the men's masters Division (all age 40 plus), and the Runner's Edge Senior Masters team of John Daly of Massapequa, Tony Fleck of Farmingdale, and Brian Pearsall of Westbury scored first in the Senior Masters Division (all age 50 plus). The "Joyful Happy Masters" team of Michael Nusblat and Joan Ackerman of Farmingdale, and Howard Cragg of Bethpage, earned the first place award in the Co-ed Senior Masters Division.
The Relay was hosted by the Greater Long Island Running Club, under the guiding hands of the Club's Carl Grossbard and Charlie Hamilton, and was made possible by the generosity of title sponsor North Fork Bank. Thanks to the generosity of North Fork Bank, the Club was able to use this year's relay to raise some significant funds for The Center for Developmental Disabilities, the Woodbury-based facility that helps developmentally disabled youngsters and adults achieve their dreams. The Center's Executive Director Nick Boba and Director of Development Deborah Patey were on hand for the festivities.
