On May 21, 2006, local resident Mindy Davidson will compete in the Memphis in May Triathlon (an Olympic-distance triathlon - 1.5K swim, 40K bike, 10K run) as part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program. She will continue her efforts to raise funds while training for this endurance event. Davidson is a local runner and triathlete. She is vice president of the Greater Long Island Running Club, secretary of Team Runner's Edge in Farmingdale and a coach for the Team in Training program. She is also a vocational rehabilitation counselor for Nassau BOCES.

Davidson is participating in the event in memory of Louann Veccia, who lost her battle with lymphoma in 2005 and Jeffrey Uschok, who died in 2000 after a very short battle with leukemia. He was only 33 years old and newly married.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission is to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma as well as to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
