As I have mentioned in my previous columns, our monthly trustee meetings are a great opportunity for all village residents and interested community members to see first hand how village government operates. The opportunity to address the board and share your thoughts, opinions and ideas really does matter. One person's opinion can and has had a bearing on what has been and what will be decided.
I welcome your attendance at our meetings. We do realize that due to other commitments it is not possible or practicable for all residents to attend. As such, the trustees and I have gone to great lengths to make the information at the meetings available to you if you cannot attend. You can visit the village website, www.farmingdalevillage.org to view the minutes from past meetings as well as see the calendar of events and read copies of our past newsletters. The village board and I are committed to making sure that our village government is an open government.
The Village of Farmingdale Trustees meet at least once a month (sometimes two), usually on a Tuesday at Village Hall at 7:30 p.m. The meetings are posted on the sign in front of Village Hall and are also posted on the Village website. There are many very exciting opportunities in the upcoming New Year for you to share your thoughts and ideas. The next meeting is on Jan. 3. We will also have a second meeting on Jan. 24 where discussions on the Road Bond will begin. This will be the first of many meetings to review, identify and prioritize the roadwork that needs to be done to finish the project that was never completed from the prior administration. We will also discuss ways to pay for the necessary work with little or no tax increase to our residents. It is our intention to take the necessary time to review all options and develop a concise plan for the future. I hope you will come to this meeting and our future meetings to become a part of the decisions that make our village one of the best places to live.
