On Election Day, Most Incumbents Prevail
Democrat Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi was re-elected to his second four-year term, defeating Republican and Independence Party candidate Greg Peterson and Conservative Party candidate Robert Bruno. Suozzi, who also ran on the Working Families Party line, received 178,133 votes. Peterson received 114,115 votes and Bruno received 9,097 votes.

Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon recently announced that the DA's Criminal Frauds Bureau has arrested three individuals who collected workers' compensation benefits totaling more than $76,939 that they were not entitled to receive.

Long Islanders Participate in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
Hope starts here - thanks to 40,000 walkers who braved a blustery day with high winds on the boardwalk at Jones Beach on Sunday, Oct. 16 to raise $2.3 million to fight breast cancer. The funds raised support American Cancer Society research, education, advocacy and quality of life programs and services for breast cancer survivors. Joining more than 1,200 breast cancer survivors at the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event were moms and dads, children, grandparents, neighbors, friends and co-workers all walking to honor breast cancer survivors or remember a loved one lost to the disease.

Super Sunday lived up to its billing last weekend at Woodward Parkway Field as Farmingdale's PAL Flag Football League wrapped up its second season in spectacular fashion. Applebee's supplied the food, PAL brought the trophies and the players came with their spirit, enthusiasm and love of the game.
