Flag football fans, mark your calendars. Nov, 13 is Farmingdale PAL's Super Sunday. All players will be treated to an end of season BBQ and the culmination of the league's postseason tournament. The Grasshopper and Peanut divisions have two more weeks of Flag Fun, while the remaining divisions begin tournament action this week. Here are some Week Seven highlights as reported by the coaches.

Taking the field without two key players, the Lady Jets faced the Lady Vikings for the second time this season. The Jets overcame the player shortage and beat the Vikings 22-6. Two big touchdowns were scored by Christina Lopilato. A stunning short pass reception and run resulted in 6 points for Jules Mullane. Andrea Lopilato found the end zone for the 2-point conversion. Sarah Hecht, Megan Draghi and Maddie Reilly all had big runs from scrimmage as they contributed to the Jets 4th victory of the season. On defense, the Jets were tough, only allowing one breakaway TD run from scrimmage. The coaches on both teams are amazed how much these girls have learned about football and more importantly about the sportsmanship they demonstrate.

Apologies to the Lady Jets for not reporting a thrilling victory over the Browns last week. A touchdown pass from Justine Fernandez to Maggie Flemming as time in the game expired gave the girls the big win. Maddie Reilly also had a key interception, which set up that Jets victory.

With thoughts of ghosts, goblins and candy on their minds, the Peanut Jets had their best game of the year. Playing against the Packers, they showed their fans how hard they've worked to learn the game and wowed everyone, play after play. Both teams were full of energy and had loads of fun. Adam Rosenthal, Christian Capobianco, Matthew Muccio-Schrimpe and Nicholas Seyfert were great on defense, running after the ball and pulling flags. Jake Formisano kept everyone guessing with numerous fake hand-off plays. Keegan McDonald played great at QB. Matthew Giacastro always gives his all and had a great run down the sidelines. Jesse Nicolich also gained some yardage when he ran with the ball. The entire Jets team should be very proud of themselves for how well they play and for the improvement they show every week.

The Eagles squared off against a tough Chiefs team this week. The free wheeling Chiefs offense featured an aerial attack that the stingy, run stuffing Eagles defense had not seen this season. The boys went into their cover zone "D" and after a couple of long Chief pass plays, did a nice a job containing the explosive Chief offense. Leading the defense were Jake Hueskin, Sean Moloney, Brendan Gallagher, Sean Sookraj and Max Sturm. The Eagles offense came up with some big plays from Connor Doran, Lucas Sowers and Tyler Moloney, each showing some elusive moves and game breaking running style. The boys, coaches and fans all enjoyed the great weather and a fun day.

The explosive Chiefs had another fun day playing against a talented Eagles squad. A Jack Nonnermann to Tom Donovan TD pass got the Chiefs going. Sean McCann had a TD run along with a TD pass. Tim Dolan and Anthony Morante rounded out the ground game with long runs. The defense was led by Will Hroch and Paul Morante.

Peanut Raiders and Giants squared off on a beautiful Sunday morning with both teams displaying their high powered offense. The "Touchdown Twins" of Jim Grassi and Nick Cappellino used aerial bombs to fly down the field. First was Grassi throwing deep down field to Cappellino scoring the first touchdown. Later , Cappellino threw two deep bombs for two more touchdowns. Dayna "The Scooter" D'Antonio scootered her way for a number of long gains, while Kevin "Crazy Legs" DePalma kept the Giants defense off balance all day. The Raiders tried out one of their new quarterbacks Anthony Mottola who proved to be another valuable offensive asset. There was a big buzz in the crowd after many fans thought they saw Lawrence Taylor and Dick Butkus in Raiders' uniforms, but it turned out to be the defensive powers of Trevor Clark and Chris Stauber. The two joined up for a combined eight tackles stifling the Giants offense all day. As always, the Raiders coaching staff is very proud of all their players.

The Browns played a great game against a tough Patriots team. Scoring for the Browns on a spectacular run was Conor Reid. Nick Sassi had a great game playing quarterback and also made some nice defensive plays. Playing solid defense and making several tackles were Nick Pantorno, Gregory Slator, Tyler Timmons, Christopher and Ryan Fenn.

The Peanut Patriots also played well on both sides of the ball. CJ Demers, Kevin DiLeonardo, Joseph Hunt, and Dean Pagano all had long touchdown runs.

On the defensive side, Justin DiLeonardo had an interception with CJ Demers and Joseph Hunt also disrupting the Browns offense by pulling flag after flag. On one play, Joseph Hunt showed incredible pursuit and speed to stop what would have been a sure Browns touchdown. Defense was a true team effort with Richie Kevan, Liam Hickey and AnthonyBarbuto all chipping in to make it a dominating all around performance for the Patriots.

In week six, the Patriots took on the Chiefs. Both teams played stifling defense. It was as if CJ Demers was Ty Law and Justin DiLeonardo was Rodney Harrison. CJ had two passes defensed with both almost ending up as interceptions. Justin made an outstanding play with a diving grab of the flag on the one-yard line to stop a streaking Chiefs player from scoring.

After a long run by Joseph Hunt to end the half, neither team had scored. The Chiefs broke the scoring drought mid-way through the second half with a nice touchdown run. But the Patriots answered back on the next series. Kevin DiLeonardo and Anthony Barbuto both ran for positive yards to get close to the first down marker. CJ then made a good pass to Justin who took off to the left, then reversed direction and ran down the sidelines for a touchdown. The Patriots really earned that score and it made for an exciting touchdown celebration in what would be the final score of the game.

The beautiful weather only added to the pleasure of watching the Steelers as they took on the Vikings. The game started with a 20 yard TD run by Devin Miller. Robert Mullane played a nice defensive game, as did Kevin Mumolo who grabbed many flags. Thomas Weber picked up a fumble and ran it in for a 30 yard touchdown. Kyle Tucker hugged the side line and ran all the way for a touchdown. Kevin Costanza caught a beautiful pass from Daniel Dougherty and ran all the way for a touchdown. Micheal Theim again had a strong game on offense and defense. Daniel Dougherty was great at passing and also made some nice runs.

The Steelers (3-4) coming off a humbling loss to the Vikings, bounced back with a huge 39-20 win over the Browns. The Browns, without 2 key players, could not stop The Michael Alonso show. Despite taking only 50 percent of the snaps from center, Michael threw 5 TD passes and was without question the player of the game. On the Steelers 2nd drive, Mike A. hit TJ Thompson for a 40 yard TD pass. Brendan Nocella converted the 2pt conversion to give the Steelers an 8-0 lead. On the next possession, Mike A. struck again, finding Nico for a 30 yard TD pass. With the score 14-0, the Browns' Connor McDonald made the catch of the game on a pass from Brett Davies and ran 50 yards for the score. The Steelers answered with a big 45 yard run from Brendan and capped off the drive with a 25 yard TD pass from Mike A. to Brendan N. The Steelers got off to a flying start in the 2nd half when Nico picked off his team leading 6th interception followed by Mike A. hitting Brendan N in the end zone for a 15 yard TD pass. With the score 27-12, Gregory Carlsen scored his 1st TD of the season on a 15 yard run. Prateek Khurana started the Steelers last drive of the game with a 60 yard run followed by Jack Garner 1st TD of the season on a short pass from Mike A. Other Steelers notables, TJ Thompson's two huge 1st down catches, Prateek K. over 100 yards rushing and Garrett O'Reilly's two big flag pulls.

The Chiefs ended the regular season with another tough game, losing to the Patriots 26-14. After falling behind 20-0 in the first half, the defense led by Connor Comoli and James D'Antonio held strong. Matthew Podbielak put pressure on the Pat's QB in the second half and Jordan McCauley had some big plays to hold the Pat's to only one score in the second half. Tyler Byrnes scored for the Chiefs on a double reverse and Anthony Colecchia caught a pass in the end zone to make the game close. The Chiefs will play the Patriots in the tournament and will look to even the score.

In week six action, the Chiefs lost a tough fought game. The game started with a quick score by Tyler Byrnes on a long run up the middle. Tyler also hit Jordan McCauley for a long pass setting up a score by Matthew Podbielak for the only two scores by the Chiefs. Connor Comeli threw some nice passes and Jimmy McQuade had a long run for a key first down but they were unable to convert them into TDs. James D'Antonio, Anthony Colecchia and Travis Rubino played a solid defense.

The Giants beat the Packers 32-19. Here are some of the numerous highlights turned in by the Giants. PJ made a great catch on a throw from Joe and ran for TD. Declan caught a long throw from Joe for a TD. Great rush by John to stop the Packers on 3rd down. On a flea-flicker, Joe handed off to PJ who threw to Joe who ran for a long TD. Joe made a great effort to avoid the rush and throw to PJ for a TD.

The Varsity Vikings edged past the Browns, 46-42 completing an undefeated season, 7-0. The Browns displayed a tough defense working with only 5 players, keeping the score very close the whole game. Touchdowns and interceptions for the Vikings were made by Joe Edwards, Russell Schwartz, Tom Gelbach and Nick Ceriello.

Russ and Nick led the team with great blocking. Brian Mahon and Devin Bartlett were excellent carrying the ball and scrambling as quarterbacks. Mike Tuzzolo sacked the Browns' quarterback twice. Zach Pardo and Nick Schiano helped out on the defensive side and were very competitive on getting yardage as well. R.J. Maurice was successful at the "Center Sneak" play.

Tom also played great defense making an interception and making some good flag grabs. Mike Tuzzolo had one sack against the quarterback. Nick Shiano played a challenging rusher position. Russell Schwartz played quarterback for some of the game and along with R.J. Maurice and Zach Pardo, the team was able to stay ahead.
