When the Over the Hill Gang (OTHG) board met to discuss who would be our Man of the Year on our 30th Anniversary we wanted to select someone who was a friend and dedicated to the success of the League. The name John Venditto was a unanimous choice.
In the early days of the league in 1985 we had six teams and a large waiting list; with no support from any state sponsored group the league went to the Town of Oyster Bay and met John Venditto. John saw a league made up of youth league coaches and volunteers who sought a night of fun and recreation through a game of softball. The following year the OTHG formed the 12-team league we have today. We were fortunate to find someone like John who cared and had the foresight to see the need for OTHG. John has been a regular at all our charity events and picnics, with his desire to make the TOB, a better place to live and play, his staff has supplied us with the playing time and fields in a great sport facility Ellsworth Allen Park.
John has been a true friend of the OTHG, so on our 30th anniversary we select John Venditto as the OTHG Man of the Year.
A great way to pay tribute to John is to tell all your family and friends to support John and two former players Angelo Delligatti and Tom Sabellico in the upcoming election being held on Nov. 8.
