Daniel Aloysius McCarthy died on Oct. 19, 2005 in his home of 50 years in Bethpage where he and his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth, raised their four sons. Born in Brooklyn, NY on April 25, 1912, he was the son of Irish immigrants, Agnes Connelly of Sligo and Daniel of Cork. He starred on the St. Mary's basketball team, played in marching bands and worked until his induction in the Army during WWII. One of the first draftees, his wartime experience led to 38 years of employment with TWA and a lifelong love of travel. A proud Irishman, he returned often to see his family in Ireland. A devout attendee of St. Martin of Tours RC Church, he is survived by his wife, their sons Daniel of Seattle, Joseph and his wife, Patricia McMahon of Houston, TX, Timothy and his wife Vicki of Colorado Springs, CO and Brian of Baldwin, NY. Grandfather of Timothy, Conor Clarke and Claire Guanya McCarthy and Gabrielle Bowerman. The twinkle in his eye will be sorely missed. Arrangements were made by the Arthur F. White Funeral Home.
