At the monthly Village Board of Trustee's meeting held on Oct. 18 water was the main topic of conversation.

Early on in the meeting a bid was made to look into a new water monitoring system known as the Fixed Based Radio Read Water Monitoring system. The system which reads water tanks automatically four times a day would bring the community into the 21st century according to Mayor George Graf. As of right now the system of reading the water tank involves individuals making house calls. According to the mayor and board the old system is an inconvenience to home owners and those individuals who must read the tanks. There is also a greater chance for human error with this old system. The new system would cut costs also as it can give semi or quarterly year bills. The board informed the public that these plans will be further discussed next spring but feel it is cutting edge technology and they will now take the next step to look into how much the system will actually cost.

After the regular business of the meeting was conducted the board opened the floor to public participation. Ken Johnson a Sherman Road resident led the portion of the meeting by discussing the recent water damage he and many of his neighbors have experienced. Johnson explained that he understands the community has received a great deal of rain in the last few weeks but also pointed blame at the construction being done at the Hueppe Property's Lenox Hills Estates which sits behind Sherman Road. Due to the construction Johnson believes that the land is higher and causing water to run down stream towards his home. He sees the underground streams as a major problem and is looking to the board for further answers. Other residents questioned the existing drains placed at the construction site explaining that they simply do not work and want more explanation.

An engineer from H2M was present at the meeting and thought perhaps an under drain could be put in spots to collect water or monitoring walls but needs more time to look into the right solutions for the problems. Mayor Graf asked him to look into more specifics and scheduled a H2M review for the next meeting.

The meeting was concluded soon after the public participation ended. The next meeting has been set for Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
