Maria E. Martin died on Sept. 24, 2005 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, after a long fight with her illness. Born March 7, 1953 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Helen (DeMarco) Gallo. Maria attended Brooklyn PS #186, Bethpage High School and graduated from Adelphi University with a BS degree in primary education. On Sept. 10, 1978 she married George M. Martin in Bethpage. In 1984 they moved to West Winfield where Maria was a tutor for special children at Mount Markham School. She was a member of St. Joseph's RC Church and active in MOMMS. Maria is survived by her husband George; daughter Nicole; son Michael; sister Concetta Gallo of Bethpage; brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Linda Gallo of Seldon; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Carrie Martin of Old Froge; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Arrangements were made by the Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Bethpage. Prayer service at the funeral home. Interment St. John's Cemetery.
