Week three of OTH Year End Tournament determined the bracket winners and wild card entry that move into the semi-finals scheduled for Tuesday night. In bracket 1, Moby continued their winning ways with a 16-11 victory over the Bar Boy team. Showing strong tournament play again this year, Moby ended their first round 3-0 which included a victory over top seed Synergy team who was eliminated after an outstanding season. In Moby's victory, Scott Entwestle started things off with a three-run home-run down the third base line which jump started them off to a six run lead. On the defensive side shortstop Henry Hasemann continued his outstanding play, turning in an incredible DP which shut down a Bar Boy rally. With their improving defense and timely hitting, Moby is again peaking at the right time.
In bracket 2, Barco continued their fine season, also going undefeated during round 1, this time thumping Changing Times 29-9 in a game called after 6.5 due to the run rule. Barco got off to a quick start with five in the first but CT came right back with six in the second to take the lead. Unfortunately for CT, Barco's bats were hot as they scored seven in their half and continued to scored every other inning as well. Helping Barco were three timely DPs to snuff out Changing Times' rallies keeping them from mounting another comeback. Offensively the entire line-up produced with the big guns being Kevin Moloney, who was 4-4 with a HR, six RBIs, Gary Jambor 4-5, four RBIs, Bill White two hits, four RBIs and Dave Saur 3-4, a HR, three RBIs. Also having terrific nights were Bob Diamond 3-3, Rick Pedone 3-4 and Steve Jacobson 3-5.
In bracket 3 Hampton Air won their battle over Mers to win their bracket while Mers gained the wild card spot by virtue of the run differential. The game was a seesaw battle with the lead changing 6 times with Mers holding a 10-9 after six, and then Hampton Air erupted. In the seventh Hal Edelman singled in two followed by a triple off the bat of Chris Theohrides which was the start of a six-run rally. Mers was only able to muster one more run before the game came to its conclusion.
As the top seed, Barco faces Mers Tuesday in the second game while second seed Hampton Air faces off with the surging Moby squad in the opening match. The finals will be held on Friday following the annual Home Run Hitting contest. Come down and support this year's worthy cause, our local troops fighting over-seas, and to enjoy the action.
