Being Paid for Not Working?
A former Nassau County employee was arrested last week for allegedly defrauding the taxpayers by at least $12,000. Legislative minority leader Peter Schmitt believes there may be another instance of wrongdoing and called on County Executive Tom Suozzi to place one of his top deputies on a leave of absence. Suozzi's office though, believes Schmitt is just playing politics as the race of county executive begins to heat up.

The season is now coming down to the home stretch with only two games left which are the rescheduled rainouts. Each division leader solidified their hold on first place with wins as the rest of the league is now reduced to playing for the year-end charity tournament seedings.

Inaugural Main Street Mile in Farmingdale Set for September 3
A few months ago, Hockey Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine announced plans for the Main Street Mile, a road race that will be held in Farmingdale on Saturday, Sept. 3. The Companions in Courage Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by LaFontaine, will be the primary beneficiary of this event. Proceeds will go toward the building of digital playrooms in local children's hospitals.
