Registration is now under way for the 25th Annual Stop World Hunger Tennis Tournament. All funds raised are forwarded to Catholic Relief Services to assist them in their efforts to feed hungry children "where the need is greatest," regardless of race, religion and/or nationality.

The Stop World Hunger Tennis Tournament provides tennis players with the opportunity to make new friends, improve their games, enjoy some tennis and help a good cause. Based upon registration, divisions are set up according to the ability level and geographic locations of the participants. Players contact each other and schedule their own matches at mutually convenient times and sites.

The tournament is open to recreational players throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Events include men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. Also, by popular demand, there is a special senior singles division for men 60+.

The tournament follows a no-elimination round-robin format to encourage maximum play. Usually, there are divisions for intermediate, advanced intermediate and advanced players in men's singles.

The cost of the tournament is $6 for singles and $10 for doubles. The deadline for registration is Thursday, Aug. 25. All matches are to be scheduled between Sept. 3 - Nov. 13. Awards will be presented at a special tennis party scheduled for Dec. 3.

Applications and/or more information can be obtained by contacting: Stop World Hunger Tennis, 53 Elm Place, Amityville, NY 11701. Or, if you prefer, call Matt at 1 (631) 789-3618.
