Gladys R. (Walters) Kaufold, 73, of Milford, NH, died on July 11, 2005, at home, following a lengthy battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Mrs. Kaufold was born Jan. 3, 1932 in Amityville, daughter of the late Arthur and Ruth Walters. She was the wife of Charles F. Kaufold of Milford, to whom she was married for 53 years. Mrs. Kaufold was a graduate of Amityville High School and had been employed as a bookkeeper for several banks in the Milford area. She was a member of the Milford United Methodist Church. She was also a member and past secretary of Puritan Charity Themis Atlantic Chapter #29, O.E.S. Mrs. Kaufold was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and was an avid soap opera fan. Besides her parents, Mrs. Kaufold was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Walters. Besides her husband, survivors include a half-sister, Yvonne Harman of Babylon, NY; one daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Richard Westergren of Milford; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kurt Kaufold of Milford, and Bill and Sheliah Kaufold of Milford; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire was in charge of arrangements. The family requests donations be made in her memory to Souhegan Home, Health and Hospice, 24 North River Rd., Milford, NH 03055, or to the Milford United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 476, Milford, NH 03055. Howard L. Wirtz, 81, of Farmingdale, died on July 11, 2005. Born in Cincinnati, OH, the son of Leonard Joseph and Edith Wirtz. Brother of Blanche, Aline and Leonard Jr. Howard came to New York during WWII as a military guard stationed at what is currently known as Greenhaven Prison in upstate New York. During weekends Howard would frequent a small private airfield in Stormville, NY. There he met May North, a Long Islander who was taking flying lessons at the airport. They married soon afterwards. Howard and May moved to Long Island and he continued his love of flying by joining the Civil Air Patrol, an auxiliary of the US Air Force. He gave 25 years of service and became Lt. Col. of the Nassau LI Group. He later joined the Jones Beach Power Squadron, a boat safety training organization. After 22 years of service, he retired from Brookdale Hospital Center in Brooklyn. Howard is survived by his wife of 57 years, May; their son, Kenneth, and daughter, Phyllis Henry. Grandfather of Brian, Joshua, Cheryl, Jesse, Philip. Great-grandfather of Daniel. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews in Ohio and nephews and great-nephews on Long Island. As per his wishes there was no public viewing. A celebration of his life was held July 15 at Kingdom Hall, Farmingdale. Donations in Howard's memory may be sent to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018. Cremation services were entrusted to the Arthur F. White Funeral Home. Edward Muro, of Bethpage, died on July 13, 2005. Husband of the late Mary (nee Hoffman). Father of Carol Levenson, Eleanor Williams, Patty Berardino, Marilyn Clendaniel and Grace Morales. He was predeceased by his brothers, Richard and Joe and their sister, Eleanor. Grandfather of 16. Great-grandfather of 21. Great-great-grandfather of one. Arrangements were made by the Arthur F. White Funeral Home. Service at the Bethpage United Methodist Church. Interment Calverton National Cemetery. Kelly A. Wittmann, of Levittown, formerly of Farmingdale, died on July 14, 2005 at the age of 37. Wife of Mark. Sister of Chris Hoffman and Kathleen McCaffrey. Aunt of Lindsey, Dillon, Lauren and Jaclyn. Arrangements were made by the Arthur F. White Funeral Home. Religious service at the funeral home. Cremation private. Donations in Kelly's memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 839 Stewart Ave., Garden City, NY 11530. William A. Sanders, of N. Massapequa, died on July 20, 2005. He worked as an executive in the transportation industry for 45 years. Husband of Patricia. Father of William, Kevin (Gail), Brian (Lynne), Kieran (Karen), Thomas (Donna), Patricia Kirk (Steven) and Michael. Papa of Jacqueline, Jonathan, Patrick, James, Emily, Ryan, Emma, Elizabeth, Molly and Anna. Brother of Helen Gaffney, Joan McFarland and the late Jayne Green. Arrangements were made by the McCourt & Trudden Funeral Home, Farmingdale. Funeral Mass at St. Kilian RC Church. Interment Calverton National Cemetery. John S. Dluzneski, of N. Massapequa, died on July 21, 2005. He was a retired policeman after 42 years most recently for the NCPD Air Bureau. Husband of Elizabeth. Father of John S. Jr. (Stephanie), Paul K. and Peter R. (Allison). Grandfather of John S. III, Shane, Alex, Stephen, Amanda, Nolan, Ashton, Alexa and Aubrey. Brother of Catherine. Arrangements were made by the McCourt & Trudden Funeral Home, Farmingdale. Funeral Mass at St. Kilian RC Church. Interment St. Charles Cemetery.
