Hockey Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine will be at The Runners Edge in Farmingdale on Monday, June 27 at 11 a.m. to announce plans for the Main Street Mile, a road race that will be held in Farmingdale on Saturday, Sept. 3. The Companions in Courage Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by LaFontaine, will be the primary beneficiary of this event. Proceeds will go toward the building of digital playrooms in local children's hospitals.
The Main Street Mile is sponsored by North Fork Bank and presented by Runner's Edge of Farmingdale. It is a great way for families to join together during the Labor Day weekend. Prizes will be awarded in multiple age groups, including a kids', Fun Run. As an added bonus, any participant breaking four minutes in the mile will receive a $500 bonus.
Pat LaFontaine, Farmingdale Village Attorney Greg Carman, Cisco System's Mark Leff and North Fork Bank's EVP of Corporate Banking, Carolyn Drexel will be among the guests who will be on hand for the launch.
