The Nassau County Council of School Superintendents honored the valedictorians and salutatorians from 55 Nassau County high schools at the annual Academic Honors Breakfast on June 3.
Farmingdale High School was pleased to have taken part in the ceremony that was attended by Superintendent Dr. Roberta Gerold, High School Principal Allen Bauer and the honorees' parents.
Farmingdale High School Valedictorian Christine Ellman earned a GPA of 105.046 and will attend Yale University where she will major in Biological Sciences with a focus on Environmental Studies. Ellman served as vice president of the Student Government Association and is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Spanish Honor Society and the Art Honor Society. She also participated in the Science Olympiad and is a member of the championship Envirothon Team. The 2005 FHS yearbook states "in the future, Chrissy plans to attend graduate law school to pursue a career in either environmental law or patent law. She hopes to 'combine her passions of writing, science and public speaking into a career focused on biology with a twist.'"
Farmingdale High School Salutatorian Elizabeth Scisci is graduating with a 105.004 GPA and will head to Stony Brook University in the fall to pursue a career in Dental Science. Scisci is a member of the National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society. She was also active in the Playcrafters and played on the varsity softball team. The FHS 2005 yearbook states "in Playcrafters, you work so intimately with a group of people that it is 'enriching and almost overwhelming.' Liz hopes that 'many future students get that opportunity.'"
