The public's voice is being excluded from the benefits of a full Environmental Review as the Republic Airport Commission is planning on circumventing the process. They are doing this through a vote prior to the approval of an Airport Master Plan on a proposal to relocate Taxiway "B" further from the adjacent Runway 1/19 on June 14 at 7 p.m. at the Republic Airport Main Terminal, Room 201. This relocation will allow the necessary 400 feet distance between the taxiway and runway for wing-tip clearance for 200,000 lb. CIII Class aircraft including 727s. This would enable Republic Airport to expand its operation with the associated significant increase in noise, air pollution, storage of additional quantities of Jet A Fuel, and increased traffic along major arteries and peripheral routes to the airport (i.e., Round Swamp Road, Haypath Road, Old Country Road, Old Bethpage Road, etc).

The outcome of the commission's vote on this Taxiway Relocation Resolution will serve as a recommendation to the NYS-DOT to advance expansion plans. To help stop this injustice, please come down to show our solidarity with our neighbors in Farmingdale, Bethpage, Amityville, Melville, Lindenhurst, Massapequa and Plainedge to thwart this potential spiraling growth into another MacArthur Airport only five miles from the heart of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Community.

In addition, sign-on letters to our elected officials will follow shortly that will need your immediate attention.
