The Farmingdale PAL fourth grade girls lacrosse green team, the Tornadoes, have started the season out very strong with one win and one tie. They tied a tough Massapequa team 5-5. Goalie Nicole Kayola played outstanding recording 10 saves and quieted Massapequa's strong offense. The Tornadoes have been hustling after ever ground ball and passing to the open player quite well. The Massapequa game saw Michaela Duranti (2 goals) scored one of her goals with 30 seconds left to tie the game. Nadine Hadnagy, Alexis Panariello and Amanda Tuturro all scored goals. The team's fantastic up and down play was led by Christina Vargas, Brenna Weill, Natalie Marrone, Courtney McPartland, Danielle Kleinhans, and Jen O'Neil. The defense made things tough for Massapequa led by Kate Hess, Danielle Maurice, Megan Garvey, Jen Spagnuolo, and Kathleen Tuechler. The offense moved the ball well led by Taylor Mignone, Paige DeVine, Catherine Edwards, and Stephanie Mullen.
In the second game of the season, the Tornadoes beat a well coached Wantagh team 11-6. The team was led by goal scores Nadine Hadnagy (3 goals), Amanda Turturro, Michaela Duranti, Jen Spagnaulo, Courtney McPartland, and Kathleen Tuechler. The rest of the team has been working hard all over the field. Danielle Maurice, Brenna Weill, Taylor Mignone, Stephanie Mullen, Jen O'Neill, Catherine Edwards, Danielle Kleinhans, and Paige DeVine have been playing great offensively. Kate Hess, Christina Vargas, Megan Garvey, and Catherine Edwards have anchored the defense and have really made it tough for teams to move the ball. Goalies Nicole Kayola and Natalie Marrone have been outstanding in the nets and have been key to the teams victories.
In their first contests of their young lacrosse careers, the Farmingdale PAL 3rd grade girls were off and running posting a 3-0 record, with victories over Mineola (5-2), West Islip (6-3), and Lynbrook (6-4). Each game was decided in the first half with early offensive explosions as the girls relied on their steadfast defense in the second half to secure their wins. This team is off to an exceptional fast start learning most of the aspects of the "girls" game while in the midst of game conditions.
Leah Ragno (7 goals), Ellen Eivers (4 goals), Emily Marlow (2 goals), Sarah Hund, Emily Dwyer and Kaitlyn Hotchkin (1 goal each) have paced the team offensively by finding the back of the net. Involved in the offense various girls have contributed with close scoring opportunities which included Christine Kelly, Alise Schendorf, Diana Prendergast and Tiffany Mignone. Relentless ground ball play by Kelly Turtell, Lauren Milana, Gia Villante, Maggie Clancy and Samantha Brescia has proven itself to be essential in keeping up the offensive pressure.
Not to be outdone, the defense has been stellar, suffocating the opponent with numerous double teams thwarting goal advances. Lindsey Rzempoluch and Amanda Hausmann have anchored the defense while Jennifer Thompson, Katie Manny and Emily Grote consistently out-hustled their opponents solidifying the defensive effort. Olivia Kirk, following in her bother's footsteps, has made numerous saves showing herself to be a force in goal.

The Farmingdale PAL fifth grade girls lacrosse white team, the Hurricanes, have had a great season so far beating Carle Place 8-3 and Bayville 12-9. The only lost came this week to a tough Manhasset team by the score of 10-7. The powerful offense has been led by Samantha Duranti (7 goals), Megan Sullivan (6 goals), Amanda Rutig (3 goals), Nicole Scimeca (3 goals), Brittany Barton (2 goals), Justine Fernandez (2 goals), Kaitlin Gaghan (2 goals), and Kelly Slane and Charlotte Edwards, who each have contributed a goal. Stephanie LoCastro, Gina Ramos, Kaitlin Santos, and Nicole Hughes have done a great job moving the ball up and down the field. The defense has given a strong effort and it has been led by Ashley Richards and Haley Eivers. Samantha Riveria and Shirley Salazar have contributed to the offensive effort with their passing and shooting. Goalies Charlotte Edwards and Justine Fernandez have been outstanding in leading their team to victory. The Hurricanes have played great so far and really look sharp.
