I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for attending my 19th Community Forum on March 29 regarding the problems in the Massapequa Preserve. In my first term, I have made it a priority to hold regular community meetings throughout the district to bring government to the people of my district.
I have already resolved some of your concerns with solutions, the first of which will be an increase in fines for violators who illegally use ATVs in the preserve, as well as impounding trespassing ATVs. Also, some of you expressed concern regarding garbage and other debris in your backyards near the preserve. I have secured a "Blitz Crew" through the Nassau County Parks Department to begin cleaning up those areas.
Nassau County is one of the safest places to live in America with the lowest crime rate of any municipality with over a million people. In my first term in office, the Nassau County Police Department has sworn in 300 new recruits. This is the largest number of police officers hired in over 10 years.
As I go into the second year of my first term as your Nassau County Legislator, I am looking forward to continuing to work together with all of you to make our community a better place to live. Over the past year, I have enjoyed meeting many of you and I look forward to a lasting relationship with you.
My office is always open to you and I encourage you to call me with any comments or concerns you may have.
