Harold F. Dieterle Sr. died peacefully at home on March 31, 2005 in the company of his family after 92 years of a remarkable life, his wife of 55 years, Mary (nee Mary Elizabeth Simons) caring for him. Harold led a full life, retiring from Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation after a 35-year career. Harold is survived by his wife; two children, Harold Jr. and Dee Dee. Father-in-law of Chris and Mary Beth; Grandfather of six. Harold, with his wry sense of humor, taught his children what it meant to love and care. Arrangements were made by the Arthur F. He was a nationally syndicated political cartoonist listed in Who's Who in American Art. Prior to being on staff at the Daily News (1951-1991), he was with Newsday (1954-1959) as newsroom cartoonist and courtroom artist. His award-winning art can be found in major publications such as two published books Top of the Mouse and The Sea Circus. Husband of Dianna. Son of Mary and the late Victor Cantone.
