Congratulations to the 2005 Farmingdale PAL fifth-grade boys basketball team. They were named this season's champions. The Pacers were led by team MVP Jonathon S., offensive stars Casey G. and Cody G. and defensive standouts James S. and Vikram S. The boys lost only one game all season.
The Farmingdale PAL White fourth-grade girls lacrosse team, the Hot Shots, opened their season on Sunday, April 3, despite the chilling rain, with an impressive victory over North Shore. The final score was 9-4. The Hot Shots took the lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Scoring for the team were Julia Hormann (three), Shannon Sullivan (two), Maggie Fleming (one), Lauren Renna (one), Erin Boyle (one) and rookie Noel Merola (one). Farmingdale's defense did a good job shutting North Shore down. The team was led by the rookies Kayleigh Escamilla, Noel Merola, Carrie Godas, Sarah Mae Konchalski, Erica Falco, and second-year players Victoria Amezquita, Allison Missbach and Courtney Irby. The midfielders, Erin Boyle, Karlee Dessel, Maggie Fleming, Lauren Renna, Melissa Norton and Sara Tolson, made good passes and hustled at both ends of the field. The attach worked hard in the offensive zone and were led by Julia Hormann, Samantha Stein, Shannon Sullivan, Kelly Lyons, Erica Baccarella and Sabrina Irby. The team received excellent goaltending from Lauren Zelazny and Megan Murphy, who both made some key saves to lead their team to victory. All other PAL girls lacrosse games were canceled that weekend.
