This run-off election is for a trustee position in the Village of Farmingdale. This year, the seat held by trustee Theodore Dorfmeister, Sr. is up for election. Challenging him is Terri Morrision. The winner will serve a one-year term. The trustee election will be held on Tuesday, March 15 at Village Hall on Main Street in Farmingdale from noon to 9 p.m. For more information call 249-0093.

Theodore Dorfmeister, Sr.

Current Village Trustee and Farmingdale Family Party candidate Theodore Dorfmeister, Sr. is a life-long resident of Farmingdale, graduating from Farmingdale High School in 1960.

Dorfmeister was appointed by Mayor George Graf in July 2004 after former Trustee Marialyce Denauski was relieved of her duties.

"I am happy with the [current] mayor, deputy mayor as well as the board of trustees," Dorfmeister said.

For the last four years he has held the position of chairman of the Village Green Gazebo Fundraising Committee and would like to see this project to fruition.

"I am currently working on ideas and projects for the Village Green and certainly I want to complete it," Dorfmeister explained.

Dorfmeister stated that one that his hobbies is gardening and he is looking forward to working with the Beautification Committee on upcoming projects.

Dorfmeister enjoys working with people and welcomes input from village residents.

"I am for open government," Dorfmeister said. "Our workshops are open to the public as well as our village meetings."

Dorfmeister retired two years ago from the United States Postal Service after 43 years and currently works part-time at the BiCounty Postal Federal Credit Union in Farmingdale. He has been active in the community as a Boy Scout den leader and as an umpire in the Farmingdale Baseball League. Dorfmeister served in the Air Force and is a charter member of the Farmingdale American Legion Post #449. He also volunteers for the St. Kilian's Outreach Program; driving senior citizens to doctor's appointments.

Dorfmeister is married to his wife, Judeth and has three adult children.

Terri Morrison

Dalers Party candidate Terri Morrision has lived in the Village of Farmingdale for over 17 years. A certified accountant, Morrison now owns and operates her own practice.

No stranger to Village Board meetings, Morrison has often voiced her opinion on village matters to the current administration.

"We're all there for the betterment of the village," Morrison explained.

Morrison says she was prompted to run for this position because it was an uncontested election at first.

"I believe that we should always have a choice," Morrison said.

Concern over the amount of growth, both commercial and residential in the village is one of Morrison's platforms.

"There is extra building [in the village] that has been going on and is coming about," Morrison said.

Morrison is active in the PTAs of Northside Elementary and W.E. Howitt Middle Schools, currently serving as board of education representative for both organizations. Morrison also serves as Northside's chairperson for the school picture and school planner committees. She is a member of the Special Education PTA (SEPTA), a vestry member and Episcopal Church Woman at St. Thomas Episcopal Church and an active member of the Farmingdale Police Activities League as an alternate trustee and coach. Morrison also serves as a Girl Scouts of Nassau County Hardscrabble Association troop leader, is an active member of the Junior League of the Women's Club of Farmingdale and of the Farmingdale-Bethpage Historical Society.

Terri is married to her husband, Rick and has two daughters.
