The Farmingdale Community Summit's Fourth Annual Farmingdale Reads project, a community-wide literacy project culminated with a guest appearance by New York Times best selling author Mitch Albom lecturing at the Farmingdale Public Library on Jan. 29.
Rotary Reaches Out to Troops, Celebrates at Home On 100th Anniversary
In a one-hour morning meeting, the Farmingdale Breakfast Rotary members donated more than $200 to Operation Phone Home sponsored by the Farmingdale Post Office. Operation Phone Home is a campaign designed to provide international calling cards to servicemen and women.
FHS Wrestling Team Compete in NC Championships
The Farmingdale High School wrestling team recently competed in the Nassau County Qualifying Tournament. Only the top four finishers in each weight class are able to compete in the Nassau County Championships. At that tournament the following wrestlers earned positions: 1st place Matt Lacast, 135 lbs., 1st place Charles Ross, 140 lbs., 1st place Shane Weber, 145 lbs., 1st place Nakyle Bethay, 160 lbs., 1st place Joe Marve, 171 lbs., 2nd place Paul Pavlatos, 119 lbs., 3rd place Matt Fortunato, 112 lbs., 3rd place Ken Reid 189 lbs., 4th place Justin Espositio, 96 lbs., 4th place Greg Sands, 135 lbs. and 4th place John Capozzoli, 215 lbs.
Registration for the 2005 season of Farmingdale Titans Youth Football and Cheerleading organization will be on Friday, March 11 from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, March 12 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Allan Park Community Center. A reduced registration fee of $75 (which includes $30 in prepaid chances) is being offered again this year for those who qualify for the 5- and 6-year-old division.
