Howard J. "Hoppy" Hopkins, of Bethpage, died on Jan. 24, 2005. He was a WWII US Army Disable American Veteran and a member of Ornamental and Structural Iron Workers Union Local 580. Interment LI National Cemetery, Pinelawn. Eugene W. "Gene" Albertson, 75, formerly of Bethpage, died on Jan. 25, 2005. A US Navy veteran of WWII, Gene moved to Stuart, FL, in 1977. He retired after 25 years of employment of Grumman Aerospace, Bethpage, and 11 additional years in Stuart. He was a volunteer fireman and two-term ex-chief of the Bethpage Fire Dept. He is survived by his wife, Fran Albertson of Stuart; daughter Jeanne Hance of Bethpage; son Edward Albertson of Florida; two stepdaughters, Rita Bove of Florida and Kimberly Grooms of Florida. Grandfather of Tammy (Joseph), Tracey (Robert), Tiffany (Joe), Thomas (Christina) and Lily. Great-grandfather of Jackie, Kayla and Nancy. He was predeceased in 1985 by his wife Dorothy.
