Farmingdale resident Christopher Corcoran was looking for a career change when he took an aptitude test and learned he was suited to be a surgical technologist. After researching the field and completing accreditation, he joined Winthrop-University Hospital's Cardiac Open Heart Team, and has been a valued member of the Winthrop Family for the past nine years. At the regular meeting of the Farmingdale Board of Education held on Feb. 2 in Howitt's Middle School's east cafeteria, parents of local students let their voices be heard when it came to the issue of changing student busing standards. In August 2002, I went for my routine mammography. Within hours my doctor called and said to make an appointment with a breast surgeon. Needless to say I was numb at first, I immediately made an appointment with the surgeon and he had me schedule a biopsy. Everyone said, don't worry, 90 percent of the time they are negative. I guess I was in denial, so in September off we went to California for vacation, with our friends Linda and Tony, for two weeks. Near the end of the vacation and as Jim and I were coming out of the San Diego Zoo I received a phone call from my son saying to call my doctor. FULL STORY

The New Yorkers Baseball team is looking for high school graduates, college students and baseball players ages 18 and over to play in the summer and fall season. The team needs a few good players to fill open spots: pitchers, catcher, third-baseman, short stop and outfielder. The team plays on Sundays at Levittown Memorial High School field (behind LMEC).
